Due to my travel schedule this quarter, I was unable to cover the first string of home field hockey games. Today was my first time out to Pruitt Field this season, and the ‘Cats were facing my hometown team, Kent State. Ohio won the match, 2-1.

Unlike most field hockey games, today’s match was played in the middle of the afternoon instead of mid-day. This meant that I had much nicer light to shoot in, which, coupled with the clouds, made for clean, soft colors.

In low-scoring sports such as soccer and field hockey, getting good images of the goals can be challenging. Today I was lucky enough to get the following images of Ohio’s Katie George attacking the goal, which lead to Brooke Edwards’ game-winning goal.

I had the pleasure of shooting with my good friend and yearbook editor Amanda Muschlitz. It’s impossible to tell in the images, but it was incredibly cold for the game. As you can see, she was none too happy with the snow machine sprinkler running during half time.

Just seconds after the field hockey game ended, Amanda and I ran across the street to shoot the soccer game, which I’ll cover next.
